Employment Opportunities

ORSI, as the leading offshore employment agency in Atlantic Canada, takes great pride in the achievements of its workforce. We encourage our employees to strive to improve their productivity in a very competitive workplace and to continue to upgrade their skills in order to achieve promotions in the workplace and in order to stay current with continuous emerging technologies.

ORSI recognizes that offshore projects in Atlantic Canada will require the very latest in marine and production technology primarily as a result of exposure to harsh environments and deep water. The industry will need dynamic positioning officers in the construction and operation of sub sea production systems. A wide range of mechanical engineering and nautical science positions will be needed to support numerous vessels of opportunity associated with offshore oil and gas field development. Radical new advances in seismology will open new opportunities for mechanical, electrical and electronic technicians. Unique and ground-breaking sub sea completions and floating production storage and offloading systems will require sub sea specialists, ROV and diving specialists, and marine survey specialists. Deep water drilling will need highly trained and technically competent drilling crews. Specialists in drilling fluids technology, cuttings recovery technology and environmental monitoring technology will be needed. ORSI has the opportunity to place many of the new graduates from the region's training institutes and universities. Graduates from the Marine Institute of St. John's and the Nova Scotia Nautical Institute are finding major new career opportunities when employed on board vessels crewed by ORSI. Graduates from the region's engineering schools and technology institutes (notably College of the North Atlantic, DalTech, regional community colleges) are needed by ORSI for worldwide opportunities in the seismic and well services industries.

The industry will continue to demand highly competitive catering personnel and experienced medical and occupational health, safety and environmental specialists - ORSI takes great pleasure in providing ground floor opportunities for its employees in the emerging offshore industry. Over the years we have seen many former and current employees achieve new career goals through exposure to new operational technology and continued upgrading and training.
